Thomson SKY+ HD Box swap....it could be you!

Okay some of you may be aware that SKY as a company have been contacting customers who have a THOMSON SKY+ HD box.

You could, if you felt that way inclined, contact them and tell them you have such a box.

By the end of the conversation you will no doubt have an install booked in for a "swap out".

This means you will get FOC (Free of charge) a brand new HD box.

So why not check to see what make of box you have now!

Oh and by the way, don't try telling them you have a Thomson when you do not! They do actually know what you have :-)

SKY Multi-room telephone point issues...

As a SKY engineer i often put in multi-room and along with the cables from the dish i have to connect the box to a telephone point.
Now to do this we run a telephone wire from the closest socket to the boxes.

The vast majority of homes only have one socket in the house and if we are lucky they are in the same room as one of the boxes.

The second box still needs connecting and alas this usually means running a telephone wire half way round the house up stairs and round door frames.

Not what the customer or admittedly what we want.

Now there is an alternative but SKY do not endorse these.
A Wireless Phone Jack.

I have used them and so have other engineers, as have many customers.

So if you are in this position take a look in more detail what i am talking about...

Vodafone MMS...not working

Well i am having as much fun with yet another mobile communications provider as i have come to expect!

I have had my phone for 6 months or more. Don't get me started on the issues i have had with HTC. Suffice to say i will not be buying another HTC again!

That aside the issue i am currently having is with Vodafone. At least i think it is.
I am unable to send or receive MMS messages.
For those of you that don't know that's just multimedia messaging i.e. pictures.

All me settings on the phone are correct so i have a feeling that vodafone do not have it active on my account.

Just waiting to hear back from them.

I am happy to hear from anyone with the same problem or better still a resolution to it.

Funny old day...

Still working...sort off.

Been on team cover today.
Some people seem to think i am psychic though. Is it too much to ask for people to call in at start of day and again when finish!? I guess so.

Had some more work done on two of my upcoming sites.
A new Amazon Kindle site and a Gaming site. More details to be released soon :-)

Had to sack someone from one of my other projects.
Why do people make false promises i will never know.
Anyway, i have another of member of another team starting on it again tomorrow.

Yes i know you either love it cos you have one or want one or hate it cos you can't afford one or have heard nothing but...iPhone and iPad.

Well me too...all of the above.

I really want one now and if i have my way (in other words don't tell the wife) i will have one.
Or should that be 3...iPad 3 that is!

But what does it have in store and when will it be released?

Domain buying scam

Ok so it hasn't taken long for me to make my second post but i thought this was important, at least to those of you who know what i am talking about :-)

There is a scam going around offering to buy domain names that have been put up for sale on sites such as Sedo.com

I, along with others have received an email offering to buy a domain - In short its a scam, stay clear!! You have been warned.

The following is the email you get -

Hello,

We are interested in your domain name for sale.

Please email us your desired price in USD or euros for the domain name in the subject line.

If you have other names for sale please email us yiur full list with prices for consideration.

Looking forward to doing business with you.

Day One....sounds like big brother or what!?

Okay so this is my first foray into the world of BLOGs.

Funny really because i have been into IT, gadgets and the Internet for as many years as i can remember.

I guess its just that i couldn't be bothered typing all this in and indeed had no reason to.

Who knows, maybe this will be my one and only post. :-)

I suppose one of the things that has prompted me to do this is the fact that i am trying to start up an online business.

I have worked in IT for many years but that was many years ago.

I use to co-run a company called Technical Assist Ltd.

I now work as a SKY Engineer for well yes - SKY.

I am still getting to grips with all this so bear with my mistakes - as i am sure there will be many.

As i say, it is my intention to start working for myself once again and to that end i have started with one or two things.

One of which is the purchase of certain domain names.

Some i will sell, hopefully for a profit, and some i will keep and build upon them by way of web sites that i am having commissioned.

One such early stage build is www.pcactiongame.com

Anyway, can't stay here all day i have to look for other money making ideas :-)
