Plastic Fantastic Hyde Review - Total Rip Off - Your not kidding!
(Hyde)
This is one of their websites - http://www.plasticfantastic.uk.com/
We recently had fascias, gutters and soffits fitted by this bunch of cowboys! Never again!!
Where do i start?
Well the cost for one thing.
I am a great believer in the adage you get what you pay for. Alas in this case it would seem i got a shoddy company with shoddy workmanship and appalling customer service.
Funny cos i do not remember asking for any of that or in fact being promised it either.
So here is an email i sent to the owner/boss:-
So that email was read and no action taken.
I emailed a week later with reference to the previous mail and stating how appalled i was with the customer service.
That mail was also read and still no action taken.
Furthermore i am still waiting for a receipt for payment and the so called welcome pack from this "rip off" company.
What i did not put in the letter above (because they already new about it) was the part where they put the gutter, fascias and soffits in the wrong place!! Yes they put them part way across the neighbors and were short on our side.
When we called the company at no point were we asked if everything was okay. At no point has anyone offered so much as an apology.
I have now emailed trading standards.
You have been warned!!

The gutter at the front is still dripping.
In addition to this we have now had a chance to step back and
look at it properly. The gutter goes up at either end where it adjoins to the
neighbours. This in effect will mean that any water will not drain away but
collect in the middle of ours.
The gutter itself is wonky and is not straight along its length.
I never made mention of a number of other points before as I
just wanted to get the job sorted but as I am now at my whit’s end both
with your company and the fitters I feel I should share some of my issues.
We paid a lot of money for a job that we could have easily got
done much cheaper and to no worse standard than your company has provided.
We were told that the area would be cleaned up and all rubbish
removed – it was, and still is, a poor clean up, as there is a mess all over
the back and front of the garden. The rubbish was not removed in its entirety
as it was put in our bin. Which has since been empted.
We have had issues from day one with the fitters not turning up
when they were supposed to. Not doing what they were asked to and making it up
as they went along. We have had issues with neighbours as a result of their
intervention between them.
The leaks remain.
The gutter is not straight.
Yesterday I found a piece of roof tile on the upstairs window
sill. This gives me great reason for further concern.
Furthermore, when Steve came round he stated that “you do not
use sub-contractors” and that the fitters use “scaffolding” so as to work at
waist level. Neither of which is true. This is also stated on your literature.
At no point have we had you or anyone else for that matter offer
any apology for issues raised nor has anyone even asked if everything was okay.
I want this resolved as a matter of priority but what I do not
want is the same fitters.
I shall leave this with you.

Update:- just thought you may like to know that as of this date I still haven't heard a thing from the company and all my searches pertaining to them being on the trading standards approved list have resulted in nill. Another lie perhaps?
Do spread the word if your friends or families are looking to get new gutters etc.
As of this exact time nothing further has been done.
We called them a few mins ago and spoke to Paul who is less than useless.
Again no apologies or in fact any kind of concern whatsoever!
He said he "would get it sorted" which judging by the way he has got everything else sorted i hold out little hope.
Will be calling my card company if we don't get a resolution shortly.
Trading standards not long after.
Well Friday came and went and as expected NOTHING has change and NOTHING has been done!
Shock...not.
More lies, more incompetence, more bad service.
Well....after a long time and a lot of jumping through hoops we finally got the result we hoped for.
After weeks going into months we sent email after email and made phone call after phone call to Plastic Fantastic of Hyde to give them every opportunity to come a rectify the problems.
They ignored us.
Incidentally they trade under the name of Plastic Fantastic but the company name is actually GAP Ltd.
Well not quite true, as the the result we wanted was a decent job in the first place but that didn't happen.
What did happen was that we were successful in our claim for a chargeback via our card provider.
We now have to wait 45 days for that judgement to stand.
So i shall report back after that time.
As is evident by the date you can see that the 45 days has now lond since past.
Its all over.... almost!
I have my money back but now i have to get the problems sorted that they left us with.
Whilst we have been waiting several things (plastic pieces which are supposed to cover up joins )have fallen off the front of the sofits.
So the moral is...do you homework, get sevral quotes, be sure to inspect work they have done and which fitters have actually done that work. Be sure to pay by credit card. Be sure that card is Visa and not MC.
If anything does go wrong keep full and comprehensive details of everything!! Get things in writing (avoid phone calls as there is no record)
Signing off and good luck....you will need it.
Just had a call out of the blue from a gentleman who has been through the same experience. Sadly he only read my review AFTER the event. Worst yet didn't pay by card.!!
These guys really took me to the cleaners. They fitted two new doors in Jan 2012. The doors have major defects: they won't open or close properly (i.e. what a door should do, I don't ask much...), they're drafty, ill-fitting... Plastic Fantastic simply won't fix them; they won't respond to innumerable 'phone calls, numerous letters (even the threat of legal action) and even evade visits to their premises.
They gave me a TEN YEAR guarantee but failed to supply the terms and conditions despite repeated requests etc. They failed to supply an itemised invoice despite repeated requests etc..
I've been advised by my solicitor that the small claims court is pointless as it's unlikely they will pay up. I'm now paying a real tradesman to do a proper job - something I should have done in Jan! Their tag line is "Absolute Rip Off!" and boy they do their damnedest to live up to it. REALLY BAD OUTFIT - TERRIBLE.
Just MY opinion but i would not touch them simply based on this info alone - http://www.companycheck.co.uk/company/06333079
I wish I had seen your page a few months ago. I too thought I'd pay a premium to get a really nice job done. I thought I had done my research, how wrong I was. Here are some photos of the work I got: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.634463383253371.1073741825.100000691463333&type=1&l=9f707e206b
Thank God I have found this - I had them around for a quote today!
p.s. Who did you use to put the job right in the end?
Hi Jacqueline Leonard
We didn't get anyone.
I have had to do a makeshift repair just to both the guttering above our property and the parts that go over to our neighbors.
The back of the house is still gushing with water when it rains.
I had to do something quickly especially for the neighbors as it should never have been over their side in the first place.
We chose not to get it done again at the time simply because of the upheaval, the issues with PF and the problems with neighbors.
So for now at least we are no further forward.
I have set up a dedicated blog for the purposes of helping others share there experiences of this company.

I've only got myself to blame I saw your comments first but got talked around, as in his own tradesman's words he's a salesman and will say what it takes. The only thing you can guarantee is no matter how many times they don't turn up and how many errors they make you will never hear the word SORRY - AVOID
They also did a job for me, replacing all my guttering which was worse than the 20 year old guttering they replaced.
They job they did looked good.........until it rained a few days after they finished. There new guttering leaked all down the side of my house which caused damp in my Dining Room (we had a independant engineer to do the report),tryed endless times to contact them,no response....this went on for 6 months so we then went to trading standards paid them to persue the case which they did,it went as far as sending the bailiffs to there premises & the day before the owner "Paul" got in contact & gave us half our money back, promising us he would refund all our monies by the end of the week.....this was now over 2 years ago & still nothing.
Just a cowboy company,DO NOT USE THEM

I'm just looking for a small plastic window ledge for a bathroom. I'm going to fit it myself. I think I will do a better job than these. I won't even buy the plastic ledge from them. They don't deserve it!
My 4 Year old can for it for you. She will do a better job !!
Agree with all the previous comments.
Companies House filing history discloses that this company had a "First Gazette" meaning a notice of compulsory strike-off in 2013, 2015 and 2016 (can it make 3 in a row for 2017?). Does this suggest a well run company to you?
The balance sheet also discloses net current liabilities ( ie the company owes more than it is due to receive) and the company also has negative shareholder funds. This information can be found at:: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/
This means that even if you go through due legal process and then take out enforcement action (ie send bailiffs in) because the court award hasn't been paid, there's not much you can do. Though there will be a CCJ against the company.
